This is “Fully-SHIBORI kimono”. The floral pattern is beautiful, featuring a contrast of green and white and the distinctive three-dimensional pattern that is unique to SHIBORI tie-dye.
In Japan, the colour green originally meant freshness, vitality, and youthfulness.
A fully-SHIBORI kimono which the entire fabric is dyed using the Japanese tie-dyeing technique. Special tools such as threads and boards are used to tie the fabric, creating areas that cannot be dyed. When the threads are undone after the entire garment is dyed, the tied areas remain uncoloured and stand out three-dimensionally, creating a pattern. SHIBORI is done by hand, so it can take anywhere from several months to over a year to complete.
For these reasons, all-shibori kimonos are considered luxury items.
It is in very good condition and high quality of silk. There is a tiny stain on the left collar, but it is not noticeable. It’s at a level that you won’t notice unless you look closely.
